A child’s ability to communicate effectively is essential to increasing opportunities for independence, succeed in academic endeavors, and to develop meaningful relationships with others.
Our Speech and Language Services offers evaluation and treatment for children with a range of communication disorders, with a special emphasis on the treatment of speech and language impairments of children with autism spectrum disorders.
Our clinicians are specially trained to administer and evaluate using a broad range of standardized diagnostic tools. Once a speech and language evaluation is completed, the clinician will review results with the family and provide specific recommendations for any needed therapy.
Once determined that your child is in need of speech and language services, an individualized treatment plan will be developed to meet the unique needs of your child. Treatment modalities may include 1:1 treatment, small group sessions, or social skills groups to facilitate social communication and pragmatics. Parent training will also be provided so that parents can promote and facilitate communication skills across environments.
Collaboration with ABA
Offering Speech and Language Services at Behavior Therapy Specialists allows for a comprehensive and collaborative approach to meeting the communication and behavioral needs for your child. Our SLP will consult in the development of developmentally appropriate communication objectives that can be implemented within ABA therapy. Likewise, our BCBA’s will be able to provide behavioral support during speech and language sessions in order to maximize the effectiveness of the therapy session.
