What to Expect

After expressing interest in working with Behavior Therapy Specialists of Illinois and Missouri, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will come to your house and conduct an initial family interview. During this interview you will discuss with our analyst the main concerns for your child and what areas you would like us to focus on. You may also fill out behavior assessments during this initial interview in order to help further our understanding of the problem behaviors. The BCBA will then observe the child in a natural setting. This observation will help determine the function of of your child's behavior and why they are engaging in this type of behavior. An initial observation usually lasts between 1 and 2 hours. Depending on the behavior and observation there may need to be more than one observation.  After the initial interview and observation the BCBA will complete a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) which will detail the family concerns and map out what and how these behaviors will be addressed.

Depending on the needs of each child and family, our team will be able to address these needs in a variety of setting such as home, school and community.
